FAQ

When you bring home a Petland puppy, we want to make sure that you’re always prepared to give your new furry friend the best lifelong care possible. To help you get started, here are some Frequently Asked Questions with our answers.

WILL MY PUPPY BE REGISTERED?

A: There are several canine registries (The American Kennel Club, (AKC), APR, ACA, UKC, and others) that we work with. Most of our puppies are registered under AKC. When you purchase a puppy, we will give you the chance to register your new puppy.

WHAT DOES IT MEAN TO HAVE A REGISTERED PUPPY?

A: When you purchase a registered puppy, you bring home a furry friend that has its family tree documented. This means your puppy is purebred (exclusively belonging to one breed). A registered dog does not mean that your puppy will be healthier or stronger. It only means that its parents belong to the same breed and that it is purebred.

WILL MY PUPPY BE MICROCHIPPED?

A: Yes, all of our puppies are microchipped. Their microchip is registered under the AKC Reunite and Help Me Find My Pet. We highly recommend registering your puppy’s microchip. If your puppy becomes lost, your puppy’s registered microchip can rescuers help locate and bring them home.

Remember: 1 in 3 pets will become lost in their lifetime. Without registration or ID tag, around 90% will not be found.

WHAT BREEDS ARE BEST FOR PEOPLE WHO HAVE ALLERGIES?

A: People who are allergic to pet dander should consider hypoallergenic dogs. Breeds that make perfect pets for those with allergies include the Bichon Frise, Shih Tzu, Yorkshire Terrier, Maltese, Poodle, Miniature Schnauzer, Soft-Coated Wheaten Terrier.
